SEO is Data Science, Not Guesswork

Published: 2025-09-20

Most people do SEO backwards.
They start with assumptions and end with frustration.
I start with data and end with clarity.

The Process: Collect, Disassemble, Classify, Structure, Hierarchize

Here’s how it works:

  1. Collect all keywords you can get (Google Search Console, AnswerThePublic, competitor logs, internal search).
  2. Disassemble them into intent, modifiers, and entities.
  3. Classify by patterns, not opinions.
  4. Structure into a demand-based hierarchy.
  5. Hierarchize for action: content, products, and gaps.

Why This Works

Because SEO isn’t about ranking—it’s about matching supply and demand.
And the data already exists. You just have to:

  1. Collect it.
  2. Analyze it.
  3. Act on it.

BTW: You Can Automate This

With experience, this process gets faster, more precise, and harder to mess up.
The key? A metric to evaluate keywords—whether it’s search volume, impressions, or conversion potential.
(Pro tip: If you don’t have access to your Google Search Console, get it. Now.)

I’ve done this for countless fields—cosmetics, consumer products, even dog breeds
and I’m always fascinated by the patterns that emerge.
(You can even visualize the data, but that’s a story for another time.)
